Hockey Has Killed Me Dead

Free Myspace Generators

I am dead inside.

My spirit is broken.

How - HOOOOOOOOOW - do you manage to give all the momentum to a clearly gassed opponent when YOU HAVE THE MAN ADVANTAGE! YOU HAVE MORE PLAYERS ON THE ICE!

I can't even cling to Hank tonight because he was awful too. He got completely undressed by Daniel "Please Don't Let It Be That Guy" Alfredsson. Hank, you KNOW I can't stand it when he scores against us!

I am just stunned. The friendly Sens fan in our aisle who joked with me all night exited the other way, I'm sure because I looked like I had just been punched in the face. I feel like every single Sabre walked by and hit me with a shovel.

This game was the season in a nutshell. A little bit of not great but not terrible, followed by a period of soaring hope, followed by getting cut off at the friggin' knees.

Top Shelf is officially in mourning.

Something always looks not right when Top Shelf is in mourning.

I want to tell you I'm sorry Heather. I know what it's like to be so massively disappointed, especially when you had so much hope.

Yeah that one was Bad. Sorry you had to be there in person for that.

:(

I think every Sabres should personally issue you (and everyone at the game) an apology for not showing up during the last 10 minutes of the game. For completely DISAPPEARING during the last 10 minutes of the game.

What. the. Heck?

Sherry, there were a lot of Sens fans around me and they were all really, really awesome. I appreciate your condolences. I'm at least a little bad glad we could be there for Anton's first goal of the season.

R.I.P. 2007-08 Sabres.

Heather, I can't believe you were just complimentary to visiting fans who DARED to attend one of our games. YOU ARE SO CLASSLESS. :P

I never should have stopped cheering for a high draft pick. They actually started doing well last time I was cheering for them to suck--they do so like to disappoint--and then I lost my focus. Well, no more!

As of today I'm cheering for: Phoenix, Chicago, Columbus, Florida, and Toronto.

When our phones bleeped tonight and I read the results out loud, Chris cried in anguish, "How could we lose tonight when we aren't playing until tomorrow?!?" Then, we discovered that today is, actually, Tuesday and we gathered ourselves up to hang black cloth in the windows and turn our blue & gold portraits to the wall.

Oh man. Your post is exactly how I feel about my team. Hockey is an evil bitch. I'm so sorry! Those little bastards.

Speaking from, oh, LAST NIGHT'S experience...the pain goes away just a bit if you find something to focus on that has NOTHING to do with hockey asap.

Easter may be over but I do hope we see a resurrection around here one day soon.

Karen, you were better not knowing until it was over. It was the most painful game I've ever seen in person.

alix, my sweet Swede totally let me down tonight! That's the worst part! Maybe he and Matty need to find a cab and go cruising :-D

DS, I'm sorry but didn't your team clinch a playoff spot tonight? No sympathy for you, missy! :PPP Thanks for the kind words though!

I think Matty and Hank definitely have to go cruising, Heather! Maybe it will heal Matty's knee :D

As much as it sucked watching it on television, it had to be 100x worse to be there in person.

Please refer back to your post on the high-highs and low-lows. Tonight's only going to make the highs even better. It was an epic collapse, but I'm keeping my head high. If only to defy the "Schaudenfraud-loving" Whack-a-Doos over on the Edge.

10 minutes of hockey doesn't change all the things we wrote and believe about this team's potential, just like the 10 minutes against Tampa didn't erase all the problems.

Keep the Faith, even in the darkest of times.

The black mourning background and the gold font remind me of Halloween. You think we can jump in the way-back machine and go back to October, where the wheels hadn't quite fallen off the wagon yet?

OK, so how many days until the 2008 - 2009 home opener?

Forever the optimist, sources close to Vanek's Hair indicate he is secretly excited because many of the bandwagonners will jump, hopefully making season tickets available to him. Hey, Vanek's Hair and his sister endured 10 packs in the early part of the decade when the games were dull and approximately 8 other people were in attendance.

I have no comment on last night's game as I have completely erased it from my memory bank.

HAHAHAHAHA you turned your profile black. I know, I know, I should be sad. I'm crying on the inside. Maybe, I'm hysterical, I don't know?

Rest In Peace, darlin'.

I'm so sorry, Heather.

Is there anything I can do for you in your time of grief?

I'm clinging to Elma Golf's reminder about the high highs and the low lows. I have to say I have kind of detached from the Sabres lately because I was afraid this would happen and I didn't want my heart broken. It is anyway, but it's not as bad as it could be.

I also hope Vanek's Hair is right about his place on the season ticket list since I'm the sister he refers to. I still have a picture from the old Sabres website of us in our 10-pack seats at an awful game against the Blues. We're in the 5th row, but there is no one in the rows in front of us, so you can see us clearly in the picture that is actually of Curtis Brown taking a faceoff. We both look really pissed off, and if I recall correctly, we were yelling to the players that they owed us money for our tickets that night.

The point is, I don't think it's going to be that bad again. That sucked so much, but I think a little time off for these players to get their heads on straight after this season will help. We have seen some real leadership emerge from the spectre of Briere and Drury--Hecht and Pominville being the prime examples. I think they'll be able to take control of the team from the start next season.

Lindy Ruff, if you are reading this--PICK ONE CAPTAIN AND STICK WITH HIM. Much as I love Hecht, I nominate Pommers because he has the desired combination of leadership on the ice and recognition factor off the ice.

It didn't hurt me as much as the Toronto game was my official death knell. But damn, that was so sad!

Vanek's Hair has a sister! I don't know why that tickles me but it does. How come she's not named after anyone's hair? :P

If I were named after someone's hair I think I'd want it to be Teppo's. But only if it's not all slicked up. Teppo's Free-Flowing Hair :-D
