Reality Bites

You guys... I don't think the Sabres are going to be in the playoffs this year. My subconcious was evidently waiting for their series to start and it's really sinking in now. I've been kind of bummed while watching hockey the last couple of nights. It doesn't help that almost every game in the last 48 hours has gone the wrong way. When the only win I have to feel good about is the Flyers, it's not a pretty scene. The Hockey Gods hate me.

What am I supposed to blog about for the next four months? I'm having a blogger breakdown.

Heather, this post is heartbreaking! You have to stray strong! The blogosphere needs Top Shelf! Don't have a blogger breakdown! If Crunchy can be blogging, so can you!

My kids are in spring 3-on-3 league Sundays until June. It's not exactly the NHL but there's intrigue (THAT kid really can't be a Peewee - he's shaving for gosh sakes!). There are fights (coach's kid - horror!). Well, ok, at least it happens in a rink...

Seriously, though - maybe special interest stories about what the Sabres are doing in the staggeringly long off-season?

Awww Heather! I totally feel your pain. It sucks. Although at least my crazy ass owners fired our GM and have no clear plan for his replacement, so there's something to talk about. But keep it up! Top Shelf is necessary for the world's happiness. Or at least my happiness.

Pookie and alix, I'll try to be strong! I did manage to find something to post about - even if it was Sean F. Avery - so for now I can pull through. I'm not gonna lie though, right now those long months ahead look a little sad and scary.

And alix, good luck on the GM hunt. A lot of people in Buffalo would probably (stupidly IMO) give you ours but keep your hands off 'im.

Karen, I'm so sorry I haven't gotten your stuff in the mail yet. I stumbled across it all boxed up in the back room. I completely forgot. I promise I'll get on that this weekend!

And I think a 3 on 3 league sounds like awesome fun. I've already decided that once my ankle is a little sturdieer I'm going to buy some roller blades and officially learn to skate. I've been talking about it way too long.

Well, we have the World Championships next month with several of our Sabres making an appearance (Sorry Goose!), then there's your live blogging from the draft when we trade Max, then free agency and Bucky's "how they keep Pominville and Miller"" Salary Cap article (oh that could actually suck), and then it'll be training camp before you know it!

You could throw in the occasional Bills news too. I'm sure there's something you can write about Poz!

I think you'll manage!

Mark B- I am actually looking forward to Bucky's "How to Keep Pominville and Miller" article. After last year's was soooooooooooooooooooo far from reality, I am excited to see how the hockey "expert" breaks down these contracts. Of course, Afinogenov, Kotalik and Connolly will be traded. Probably packaged for something great.

I've got a new baby (pictures at my site!!!) to keep me busy, and blogging-wise, I'm starting some game-related features as that was the other half of my intended use for the site.

Sorry, NBA and MLB, not watching. Unless I go in person. When's training camp?
