Speaking as a Penguins fan, what a horrible, horrible question.
I'm not completely confident that Malkin wouldn't start sulking and go into a shell and be awful the rest of the season if Russia ended up medal-less. Also, Sergei Gonchar is my current favorite Penguin, and he's never won gold. So I'd like to see him continue to have a shot at it.
Being hassled by the media about this would just be more of the same for Sid. I think that (a) he could take it and (b) he'd kick things up a notch when he got back to the Pens. Also, he should have at least two more tries with Canada if it doesn't happen this time.
Forgot to add, I think it's more likely that Canada will win. Though I think a Russian win would make me happier. Even though I have mixed feelings, because I'm not a huge fan of Ovechkin and Kovalchuk. (Yes, I'm a Pens homer. Surprise!)
Russia, definitely. I think they're way more overhyped than Canada and I'm just sick of them. This morning I read a whole article in the WSJ (of all places) about how Ovie is indestructible and no one can shut him down. (Never mind that Crunchy actually did shut him down 2 months ago.) Plus, I like Canada. And I want Lindy to be happy.
Which ever country convinces you to update your blog roll, so that your little brother's 35 year old blog is replaced with the one he actually posts on, can medal.
Russia. As much as I hate Hockey Jesus, the rest of the Canadian team is too good to get bounced. Iginla's performance alone gets them a bronze in my eyes.
Well, a big part of me wants Canada to win because them coming back to medal, especially beating Russia and (probably) Sweden would be epic!!! But I think the Russians have come together as a team better. I do so want Lindy to be happy, though! But then again. A cranky Lindy with something to work for would favor the Sabres, right!
I voted for Canada to win elsewhere so I will vote for Russia here and thereby cancel myself out! :P

Canada; only because the coach is determined that Sid is the mini-god, rather than the focus being on the team.
I'm leaning toward Russia, but it's a close call.

Canada! Just because everyone assumed they would roll to the gold in the tournament. I love when the powerhouses go down.
