All-Star Game Thoughts

I'm totally annoyed Tim Wakefield didn't pitch in the All-Star game. That sucks.

Wakefield had no business being on the team anyway. 55th in the league in ERA and he's not on a team that had to put somebody bad in? Worst All-Star pick ever.

Lee, whatever. He's Tim Wakefield. I love him.

At least the All-Star game didn't last as long as the home run contest. In fact, I think they are just beginning the final round now. How about a pitch limit. Why are all these guys taking pitches in an EXHIBITION?! Are they working the count? Swing the f*@king bat and get the thing to a completion.

Wakefield > Rory

It the All-Star game didn't "count but not really count but it still counts for someone" Wakefield would have pitched. :)

VH, I totally agree. On one hand, I'm glad they really want to win. On the other hand, hello, swing the bat! It's for fun! A pitch count is a great idea, I think.

Jonathan, I agree with you too. We also might have been spared the intentional walk. Come on. No one wants to see that in an exhibition game. Do they?

If the game REALLY COUNTS, shouldn't we get rid of that dumb notion that EVERY TEAM HAS AN ALL-STAR and field the best team possible? The All-Star game is goofy no matter how you look at it.

Lee, I long ago gave up caring about whether a guy deserves to be on the team or not. I like Tim Wakefield. He might not ever play on an All-Star team again. I wanted to see him pitch. That's about all there is to it.

I just want to know why everybody is talking about Pujols "saving" the president by catching his pitch and not the fact that he flubbed the first ball hit to him after they talked 3 hours about how indestructible he was.

They also glossed over the fact that hometown hero Ryan Howard choked and swung at a pitch that bounced to end the 8th inning with the tying and winning runs in scoring position. This is why Ryan Howard is not MVP caliber.

You know if either one of those happens to a Met with the game in New York then the media is burying them.
