We Interrupt This Hockey Postseason...

No, not for football. The NFL draft is stupid, yo. But how about a little baseball? Let's take a quick look at the current National League wild card standings:

That's right. If the playoffs started today, the Pittsburgh Pirates would be in. (Yes, I'm ignoring San Diego.) Glory days are here again!

(Just let me enjoy while I can, please.)

I really hope you didn't just jinx the Pirates. ;)

I'm not exactly a Pirates fan, but ... I want to believe. Every year there's always a tiny bit of hope.

War Penguin, I don't know that this year is the year they really make a move but I think they are (finally) headed in the right direction. They seem to be drafting better and taking more time to really develop players in the farm system :::fingers crossed:::

I agree -- football is dumb.

On the bright side I got to see the Flyers fans hang their heads in shame today.

They are currently playing San Diego so if they win today they'll be alone in Wild Card.

The scary thing is McClouth is only batting .259, "Little Joe" LaRoche hasn't hit Doumit is injured and Moss sucks and they're still winning. Still no McCuthcheon yet either.

It's good to see them getting good young players but so far the Bay trade is a big fat F the way LaRoche and Moss are playing.

It would be really nice to see the Pirates do a little winning this year - it's been a long time for a once-proud franchise.
